Top-5 best smartphone brands - Full details

BEST NON-CHINESE SMARTPHONES TO BUY.
China, with its economic might, has rapidly expanded its manufacturing
capacity, and as a result, is able to make electronics that are far more
affordable than other those produced in other countries. But does it mean
there’s nothing at par with these Chinese smartphones? Turns out, there is.
While the home-grown Indian brands may not match up yet, there are a
handful of brands from Korea, Europe, Taiwan and the United States that
can give them a run for their money. These are the best non-Chinese
smartphones to buy in India.

SAMSUNG GALAXY M21

If you are thinking of buying the Redmi 8A Dual or the Realme Narzo 10A,
the Galaxy M20 is is a good alternative. Manufactured by Samsung, a
Korean brand, in India, it’s a little more compact with a 6.3-inch TFT display
but FullHD+ resolution, which increases the PPI making the panel appear
sharper. The M20 also takes a different route with the camera, which we
believe is a little more useful than having a macro lens. The M20 rocks a
13MP primary camera along with a 5MP ultrawide lens. The selfie camera
is also larger with an 8MP shooter. The performance is where the phone
falters in the face of its Chinese competition. The Exynos 7904 is no match
for the Helio G70, but it can get you through the day with casual usage.
However, battery life is equally long at 5,000mAh. Going with this, you will
end up sacrificing powerful performance but gain in terms of more useful
camera options and a sharper display.

SAMSUNG GALAXY M31

The Samsung Galaxy M series has gained a lot of popularity thanks to affordable
prices and up-to-date hardware. Samsung has managed to lower prices by
selling these models online, reducing distribution costs. The sub-Rs. 15,000
Samsung Galaxy M30 set the pace, and a refreshed version, the Galaxy M30s,
really helped the company strengthen its position in this segment. Samsung has now
launched a successor to the Galaxy M30s, called the Galaxy M31. You now get a
quad-camera setup, an upgrade from the triple camera setup on the M30s. However,
the processor and the battery capacity remain unchanged. Will this be enough
to keep the Galaxy M series competitive in the market? We review the Galaxy M31
to find out.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 sports a big 6.4-inch display and has a waterdrop notch
at the top. It has thin bezels around the AMOLED display which helps it stand out
among the competition. The Galaxy M31 is comfortable to hold in the hand but is a
little heavy at 191g. The weight of the smartphone is mainly because of the big
6,000mAh battery that it packs.
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy M31 with an Exynos 9611 SoC and gets 6GB of
RAM. It has two storage variants to choose from, 64GB and 128GB. The Galaxy M31 is a dual SIM device with support for 4G as well as VoLTE. It runs Samsung OneUI 2.0 on top of Android 10. We found the Galaxy M31 to have a fair amount of bloatware onboard.
The Galaxy M31 has a quad-camera setup at the back with the primary being a 64-
megapixel shooter. It also houses an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5-
megapixel macro camera and a 5megapixel depth sensor. Daylight camera performance is good but low-light camera performance was disappointing.

ASUS 6Z

SPECIFICATIONS
Screen Size : 6.4" (1080 X 2340)
Camera : 48 + 13 | NA
RAM : 6GB
Battery : 5000 mAh
Operating system : Android
Soc :Qualcomm SDM855
Snapdragon 855 (7 nm)
Processor : Octa core

The Asus 6Z is a budget flagship contender with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 4.4-inch notchless screen. Its main selling point is a flip-up camera module that lets you use the primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 camera and secondary 13-megapixel wide-angle camera for selfies as well as the usual photos. The camera module needs to flip around every time you want to use face recognition or take a selfie, which means there's a slight delay. Asus has thought of a few tricks though, such as the ability to take sweeping panoramas with one tap, or pivot the module while in the middle of recording a video. You can even set its position manually to take some creatively angled shots.
In terms of design, the 6Z is fairly plain, with only the bright blue Asus logo and text on the rear standing out against the Midnight Black Body. The Twilight Silver option offers a silver-blue gradient. There is a 3.5mm audio socket on the bottom along with the USB Type-C port. An extra button on the right is set to trigger Google Assistant by default but can be reprogrammed.
There's no IP rating but Asus has used Gorilla Glass 6 on the front.
Performance is great thanks to the high-end processor and ample RAM. The full-HD+ screen supports HDR and was bright and vibrant in our experience. We were slightly underwhelmed with the cameras at night, as our photos were somtimes a little blurry. Battery life was good but not great, and we think that Asus's promise of two-day usage is optimistic.
The Asus 6Z is a compelling option at its price, and brings a lot of power to a hot market
segment.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 10 LITE

SPECIFICATIONS
Screen Size : 6.7" (1080 x 2400)

RAM : 6 GB
Battery : 4500 mAh

The Samsung Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Note series smartphones have always been prime examples of what high-end Android smartphones are capable of. These devices are highly sought after and have always commanded a premium over what the other brands have on offer. Now, in order to compete better with brands such as OnePlus, and to lower the entry point for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite. These new smartphones are priced at around Rs. 40,000 which is significantly lower than their respective non-lite versions.Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite is an affordable version of the Galaxy Note 10 series. While it is more affordable, it still houses the S-Pen stylus that is bundled with the Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite sports a big 6.7-inch display and has an in-display fingerprint scanner. Samsung has packed in a big 4,500mAh battery which makes it a
little heavy at 199g.
Powering the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is the Exynos 9810 SoC which is the same chip powering the
Galaxy S9 phone. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite is available in two variants and 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy Note 10 Lite runs One UI 2.0 running on top of Android 10.
The Galaxy Note 10 Lite delivered god performance and it was quite efficient as the battery could last over a day easily. The stylus is also very useful to jot down notes on the device.

It has a triple camera setup at the back and does a good job in different lighting conditions. Video recording is good during the day but needs some improvements for low light.
